Dr Alex Tan

Dr Alex Tan completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 1999 and his specialist training in Radiation Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne in early 2008.  He then undertook a Research Fellowship with the Academic Urology Unit at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, before returning to Australia to work in North Queensland, at the Townsville Cancer Centre in 2009 where he is now a senior staff specialist.  He is an examiner with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, and Senior Lecturer at the James Cook University's School of Medicine and Dentistry.

 

Dr Tan lead the implementation of the Townsville Cancer Centre's Elekta Unity MR Linac, the first clinical MR linac in Australia. The system has been live since December 2019.
